Yang Su's Pierre De Ronsard: A Poetic Blend of Design and Baking

Exploring the Unique Design of a Modern, Elegant Baking Shop

Yang Su's Pierre De Ronsard is a baking shop that embodies the romantic essence of its namesake, a modern French poet. This article delves into the unique properties, inspirations, and technical aspects of this award-winning design.

Yang Su, a renowned designer, drew inspiration for Pierre De Ronsard from the famous Eden Rosegem and the modern French poet, Pierre de Ronsard. Known for his metaphoric descriptions of humans as flowers, the poet's romantic essence is reflected in the design of this baking shop. The shop's name serves as an extension of this romantic meaning, creating a unique atmosphere that sets it apart from other retail spaces.

The design of Pierre De Ronsard is unique in its focus on displaying the baking process and desserts. The project is designed to create a spatial feature with the concept, and establish a special atmosphere, extending the possibilities of shop design. The mutual penetration of spaces gives the shop a sense of openness, connecting the internal and external spaces through physical dissolution and fusion.

The realization of this design was made possible through the use of laminated metal sheets of various heights, which serve as display elements and interactive installations with customers. This innovative approach to design and technology is a testament to Yang Su's creative prowess. The project, which covers a total of 110 square meters, is a perfect blend of modern elegance and simplicity.

Centered on the concept of ambiguous boundary, the design features a perforated curved wall with ivory paint near the main entrance. This design element responds to the gradually varied spacing of holes, creating a unique interaction for customers. As Martin Heidegger once said, "the boundary is not the stop of something, but the appearance of something new." This philosophy is evident in the design of Pierre De Ronsard, which blurs the boundary of space through minimalist design.

Despite the challenges of designing a space that faces the inner street of a shopping mall, Yang Su successfully created an ambiguous boundary of space through minimalist design. The display framework, which enters the space in a reverse growth pattern, establishes a distinct dialogue with the surroundings. This multi-dimensional extension and intersection define the pedestrian circulation, creating a space where the circulation is constant and the line of sight is unobstructed in all directions.

In recognition of its outstanding design, Pierre De Ronsard was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. Yang Su's Pierre De Ronsard is indeed a testament to the power of design in transforming spaces and creating unique experiences.
